Sofar Sounds partners with Melia Clapton's Turn Up For RecoverySecret Show in Manhattan on March 5, 2020 at 8pm Sofar Sounds, a global community of music lovers that transforms everyday spaces - from living rooms and rooftops, to boutiques and museums - into captivating venues for secret, live shows in 447 cities around the world, has announced a special show to raise awareness in the music community for Turn Up for Recovery on March 5, 2020 in New York City. Turn Up For Recovery is the grassroots, charitable gig movement born out of Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival. Founded by Eric's wife, Melia Clapton, Turn Up For Recovery aims to raise awareness of abstinence-based recovery, tackle the stigma of addiction and help make treatment affordable to people struggling with alcohol and drug addiction. It's changing lives one gig at a time. "Addiction is a disease which affects millions of people worldwide from all walks of life. It does not discriminate between class, culture or race. Sufferers often feel hopeless and see no way out, however, abstinence based recovery can offer a new way of living," explains Melia Clapton, Founder of Turn Up for Recovery. "We are partnering with Sofar and musicians to raise awareness and offer hope, along with raising funds to provide subsidised places at the Crossroads Centre, a residential 12-step treatment center that offers treatment based on an intensive program of group and individual therapies." The March 5 event in New York City is the first in a series of Sofar shows with Turn Up For Recovery. Details about additional shows in London in April and Los Angeles in May will be announced soon. As with all Sofar shows, details will be sent to ticket holders the day before. The evening will feature three diverse acts, with no headliner, each playing a 25-minute set. WHEN: Thursday, March 5, 2020 @ 8pmWHERE: Location in Manhattan to be revealed the day before the showTICKETS: HERE or on the Sofar app. Keep up with Turn Up For Recovery on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and at turnupforrecovery.org.
