EC Closes 42nd Dresden Music Festival

Cellist Jan Vogler is special guest for entire acoustic set On June 10, Eric Clapton headlined the closing concert of the 42nd Dresden Music Festival at the Messe Dresden. It was his first-ever concert in the city and the final date of his short tour of Germany and Austria. Vogler, a renowned cellist, is the artistic director of the Dresden Festival and invited Eric to perform. He is well known for including musicians from other genres in the classical music festival lineup. The high point of the concert was the five-song acoustic set, which featured Jan Vogler on cello.

Mannheim Concert News!

Eric Clapton dedicates "Tears In Heaven" to Dr. John"Layla" played twice ... unplugged and plugged June 8 at the SAP Arena in Mannheim, Germany was the penultimate show of Eric Clapton's short jaunt through Austria and Germany. Fans leaving the arena were raving about the amazing night which included acoustic and electric "Layla" plus a tribute to the late great Malcolm John Rebennack, best known by his stage name, Dr. John. Eric kicked off the show with a high-energy "Pretending". With each succeeding song, the show went from strength to strength.

Vienna Concert News!

On June 6, Eric Clapton returned to Vienna for the first time in five years. The fifteen song set at the Wiener Stadthalle was a high-energy event. The evening's standout songs were "I Shot The Sheriff," "Holy Mother" and "Crossroads" according to fans in attendance. They also noted that Sonny Emory kicked off "Tearing Us Apart" with a drum solo. Katie Kissoon handled the vocals sung by Tina Turner on the 1986 recording. EC has a concert in Mannheim on June 8 followed by a gig in Dresden on June 10, which will wrap up his June jaunt to Austria and Germany.

EC's Crossroads Guitar Festival 2004: A Look Back

Fifteen years ago - on June 4, 5, and 6, 2004 - Eric Clapton hosted the Crossroads Guitar Festival in Dallas, Texas to raise funds for Crossroads Centre Antigua. When it ended late on hot and stormy Sunday night, little did Eric and music fans know it would only be the first.
