Gibson USA has announced that they will release one of the most important guitars in the history of rock and blues this December: Eric Clapton's 1960 "Beano" Les Paul. The Gibson Custom Shop has recreated the legendary instrument that Clapton wielded on the classic album, "John Mayall And The Bluesbreakers With Eric Clapton." In late August 1970, Derek and The Dominos - Eric Clapton, Jim Gordon, Carl Radle and Bobby Whitlock - convened in Criteria Studios in Miami, Florida with producer Tom Dowd to record "Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs." Following an invitation from EC, Duane Allman of the Allman Brothers Band joined in on the now-historic sessions. The band finished recording in September and the double LP was released that December. To mark the 40th Anniversary of the now-classic album, three different anniversary editions will be released in March 2011.News
[Updated with Extended Broadcast News from 5 November] Eric Clapton was one of the featured guests on the 30 minute live broadcast of "Later ... With Jools Holland" on 2 November on BBC Two. Accompanied by Chris Stainton (keyboards), Henry Spinetti (drums) and Dave Bronze (bass), EC performed "Travellin' Alone" and "When Somebody Thinks You're Wonderful" from his most recent studio album, "Clapton." A tweet sent by a viewer of the show to #laterjools reported he played a Gibson Les Paul. EC was also briefly interviewed by Jools.News
