New Clapton Interview By David Fricke

In the July 31st issue of Rolling Stone magazine, senior editor David Fricke talks to Eric Clapton about his new album, heading back to the studio this August and hanging up his guitar for good. Clapton tells Fricke he decided to record his homage to JJ Cale while flying to the U.S. for Cale's memorial service. As the interview ranges further from the The Breeze - out at the end of this month - Clapton talks about the state of his songwriting, the music he's listening or not listening to, the future of the guitar and retiring from the road. When asked about another Crossroads Festival, he tells Fricke, "No, I think this could be it. I don't want to work that hard, that much, anymore.
